Ship of Hope – Oil on Canvas
150 x 100 cm
When I painted this piece, I envisioned a proud clipper ship battling against the storm, its sails straining as it pushes through the relentless waves. To me, this ship represents our shared experience during the Covid-19 pandemic—a journey of resilience and determination to reach safer, brighter horizons.
I wanted the sea to carry a sense of power and depth, so I used deep blues and neutral tones, blending them with the sky’s reflection. The transition in the sky, from stormy clouds to the warm glow of a golden sun, symbolizes the tension between struggle and hope. This ship, to me, embodies perseverance, standing as a reminder of the courage it takes to navigate through life’s storms.

For me, oil painting is a journey of preserving fleeting moments of beauty and emotion—those quiet, often overlooked instants that pass us by in the rush of daily life. Through this medium, I strive to capture the essence of a scene or subject, not just as it appears, but as it resonates within me.
Every brushstroke becomes a deliberate act of expression, a way to communicate not only what I see but how it makes me feel. Painting is my way of inviting the viewer to pause, reflect, and connect with the profound depth that exists in the ordinary, transforming it into something timeless and deeply felt.
